NOTES

This fungus seems to be confined to the southern hemisphere and might be obligate on Nothofagus. It is characterized by having crater-like ostiolar discs and large perithecia. The perithecial size range given by Miller (1961), i.e., 0.5-1 mm diam, is much smaller than ours.
