Colonies on SME growing restrictedly, never completely covering a 9 cm diam Petri plate, at first thin and whitish, blackening as anamorph is produced (about 4 weeks).

Conidiophores upright or prostrate, unbranched or sparingly branched, subhyaline to brown, producing conidia holoblastically in more or less sympodial sequence, becoming conspicuously roughened with verrucose to digitate secession scars.

Conidia brown, ovoid to ellipsoid, symmetrical or asymmetrical, with flattened basal secession scar, 4-5 x 2.5-3 mm.
