CULTURES AND ANAMORPH

The anamorph has been reported by Jong (1970) [as D. occidentalis] on PDYA and by Martin (1969b) [as D. occidentalis] on 2% malt agar. Jong (1970) described and illustrated the conidiogenous structure with a Nodulisporium-like branching pattern as defined by Ju and Rogers (1996). He gave a conidial size range 7-11 x 4-8 mm. On the other hand, Martin (1969b) stated that conidiophores of this fungus are "hardly distinct from the vegetative mycelium" and conidia are "long clavate to botuliform, white en masse, 1.2-3.1 x 4.3-7.5 m, ave. 2.4-5.4 m".
