NOTES

We have not seen the type of H. daldiniiforme P. Martin which was originally reported from South Africa (Martin, 1969a). A collection from South Africa [BPI 11521] seems to fit Martin's description. It has thick pulvinate to hemispherical stromata and adnate basal attachment to substrate. Martin (1969a) reported the anamorph of his material to have a conidial size range 5-7.5 x 2.5-4.3 mm, ave. 6 x 3.5 mm, which fits our measurements and those of Petrini and Müller (1986) on H. howeianum. His measurement of conidia of H. howeianum, however, is larger, 6-11.5 x 3.2-6.5 mm, ave. 8.3 x 4.1 mm. Also see NOTES on H. fragiforme.
