Stromata glomerate, pulvinate to effused-pulvinate, discrete or confluent, with inconspicuous to conspicuous perithecial mounds, 0.8-55 mm long x 0.8-15 mm broad x 0.4-0.8 mm thick; surface sepia (63) or chestnut (40); dark reddish brown granules immediately beneath surface and between perithecia, with KOH-extractable pigments olivaceous (48), isabelline (65), or honey (64); the tissue below the perithecial layer inconspicuous.

Perithecia spherical, 0.2-0.5 mm diam.

Ostioles lower than the stromatal surface.

Asci fragmentary, probably short-stipitate, the spore-bearing parts 110-130 mm long, with apical ring bluing in Melzer's iodine reagent, discoid, 0.8 mm high x 3-4 mm broad.

Ascospores dark brown, unicellular, ellipsoid-inequilateral, with narrowly rounded ends, 13-23 (-24) x (6-) 6.5-10 (-10.5) mm, with straight germ slit spore-length; perispore dehiscent in 10% KOH, thick, with conspicuous coil-like ornamentation; epispore smooth.
