Stromata effused-pulvinate, plane, 0.3-0.4 mm thick; surface pale mouse gray (117); dull rusty brown granules immediately beneath surface and between perithecia, with KOH-extractable pigments isabelline (65); the tissue below the perithecial layer inconspicuous.

Perithecia spherical, 0.1-0.2 mm diam.

Ostioles lower than or at the same level as the stromatal surface.

Asci 60-70 mm total length x 5-6 mm broad, the spore-bearing parts 40-50 mm long, the stipes 20-25 mm long, with apical ring bluing in Melzer's iodine reagent, discoid, 0.2-0.4 mm high x 1.5 mm broad.

Ascospores light brown to brown, unicellular, ellipsoid-inequilateral, with narrowly rounded ends, 5.5-7 x 3-3.5 mm, with straight germ slit spore-length; perispore dehiscent in 10% KOH, with inconspicuous coil-like ornamentation; epispore smooth.
