º Hypoxylon kellermanii Rehm, Ann. Mycol. 6: 313 (1908), as "kellermani".

Stromata discoid or restricted-pulvinate, slightly constricted at base, superficial, 0.8-1.5 mm diam x 0.4-0.6 mm thick; surface blackish brown, plane, smooth; carbonaceous tissue immediately beneath surface; whitish, soft tissue between perithecia; tissue beneath the perithecial layer inconspicuous, whitish, composed of host and fungal tissue.

Perithecia spherical, 0.3-0.4 mm diam.

Ostioles higher than the stromatal surface, with openings conic-papillate.

Asci 140-165 µm total length x 18-21 µm broad, the spore-bearing parts 130-150 µm long, the stipes 10-30 µm long, with apical ring bluing in Melzer's iodine reagent, discoid to inverted hat-shaped, 2.5-3 µm high x 6-7 µm broad.

Ascospores dark brown, unicellular, ellipsoidal, nearly equilateral, with narrowly rounded ends, 22-26 x 11-14 µm, with straight to slightly undulate, conspicuous germ slit spore-length.
