HYPOXYLON BOMBACINUM BATISTA & OLIVEIRA

The status of the name is uncertain.

Hypoxylon bombacinum Batista & Oliveira, Ann. Soc. Biol. Pernambuco 16: 163. 1959.

This was described as having stromata with a purplish surface and dark brown interior, as having ellipsoid perithecia, and as having umbilicate ostioles. Ascospores are navicular, 11-16.5 x 8-11 mm. This might be H. subrutilum Starb. We did not receive a response from URM where the type is presumably housed.
