The type was not located at PC. Montagne (1849) mentioned that this fungus has ascospores like those of Sphaeria stigma Hoffm.: Fr. [º Diatrype stigma (Hoffm.: Fr.) Fr.]. Therefore, this is not a Hypoxylon.
