HYPOXYLON CRASSUM MATTIR. & SACC.

The status of the name is uncertain.

Hypoxylon crassum Mattir. & Sacc., Ann. Bot. (Rome) 7: 144. 1908.

No material of this fungus was found at PAD. According to the description in Saccardo (1913), H. crassum is a massive fungus with hemispherical stromata. Ascospores are 16-18 (-20) x 7- (8-9) mm. Perithecia are 0.5-0.8 mm diam x 1.5 mm long. It may be the same as H. placentiforme Berk. & M. A. Curtis.
