Hypoxylon magnum A. Möller, Phycomyc. Ascomyc. Bras., p. 308. 1901.

BRAZIL: S. Catharina, Blumenau, Möller, A., wood (S, TYPE of H. magnum).

The gelatinous layer lining the stromatal cavity points toward Entonaema A. Möller. It differs from Entonaema taxa in having an inverted hat-shaped ascal apical ring, which suggests a Xylaria affinity, and in having more than one germ slit on most ascospores. Also see Rogers et al. (1994).
