LOCALITY UNKNOWN: Mougeot, J.B., decorticated wood (UPS 56728, HOLOTYPE of Sphaeria ordinata).
The type at UPS is sterile. Fries (1823) first recognized S. ordinata at the species rank. Afterwards, Fries (1832) reduced S. ordinata to be a variety of S. uda Pers.: Fr. Nitschke (1867) further synonymized S. ordinata with S. uda; this was accepted by Miller (1961).
