HYPOXYLON PLUMBINUM P. MARTIN

The status of the name is uncertain.

Hypoxylon plumbinum P. Martin, J. S. African Bot. 35: 167. 1969; [nom. inval., ICBN Art. 37.1]; J. S. African Bot. 42: 83. 1976.

MEXICO: Nayarit, San Blās, Martin, P. 973, corticated wood, as H. plumbinum (IMI 362680). SOUTH AFRICA: Western Cape, Knysna Dist., Nature's Valley, Martin, P. 1024, 1037, & 1040, corticated wood, as H. plumbinum (IMI 362679, 362677, & 362676). U.S.A.: California, Klamath river, 8.1961, Martin, P. 719, decorticated wood, as H. plumbinum (IMI 362681).

We could not locate the type at NY. Several authentic specimens were examined from IMI. Martin 973 is H. lenormandii, whereas others are probably H. fuscum.
