Hypoxylon sclerotioideum Berk. & M. A. Curtis apud Berk., J. Acad. Nat. Sci. Philadelphia, n. ser., 2: 286. 1853.

SURINAM: ex Herb. Schwein., monocot, as Sphaeria sclerotioidea Schwein., ined. (FH, ISOTYPE of H. sclerotioideum).

According to Miller (1961), the type at K is immature. The part of type at FH is also immature. The structure of stromata does not indicate its disposition in Hypoxylon or even in the Xylariaceae.
