SURINAM: wood, as Sphaeria nummularia (PH, ISOTYPE of Hypoxylon glycyrrhiza); this mounted specimen is enclosed in the envelope bearing the name "Sphaeria nummularia Dec. var. striata, Syn. # 1219."

We could not find ascospores in the PH material. Laessøe et al. (1989) mentioned that there are "a few almost colourless to dilute brown ascospores 12.4-16.2 x 5.2-6.2 mm" in the holotype. It indicates that Miller's interpretation of Hypoxylon glycyrrhiza does not correspond with type material. Hypoxylon glycyrrhiza sensu Miller (1961) is a Camillea Fr. taxon (Laessøe et al., 1989).
