The status of the name is uncertain.Hypoxylon concentricum (Bolton: Fr.) Grev. var. minus Berk. & Broome, Trans. Linn. Soc. London, Bot. II, 2: 70. 1883.
Berkeley and Broome (1883) considered this to be a small stromatal form of the typical variety. We have not studied material of this fungus.
