Perithecia are tubular in most species. Collections of some species with small stromata, e.g., Daldinia caldariorum, tend to have obovoid perithecia. Although Child (1932) claimed that the perithecia of D. grandis are polystichous, we failed to detect it among the collections of this fungus that we studied. |
