BRAZIL: Viçosa, Teixaras, 17.10.1929, Muller, A.S., palm leaves (GAM 2390 & 2391, SYNTYPES of H. folicola).

A synonym of H. palmigena Berk. & M. A. Curtis. The type at GAM has ascospores exclusively hyaline and devoid of a germ slit. The two dark-colored ascospores, one apparently with a long germ slit, that are shown in Fig. 130 in Miller (1961), are inexplicable.
