NOTES
Miller (1961) selected Ravenel 1560 as the type of H. jecorinum; this specimen is therefore considered to be the lectotype. The most striking difference between H. jecorinum and other Hypoxylon taxa that have red or orange red stromatal granules and have similar ascospore size ranges is its Periconiella-like conidiogenous structure. This fungus is known only in tropical and subtropical America. See also NOTES on H. hypomiltum.
