HYPOXYLON ANNULIFORME REHM

The status of the name is uncertain.

Hypoxylon annuliforme Rehm, Verh. Bot. Vereins Prov. Brandenburg 32: 65. 1890.

We were unable to locate the type material at S. Miller (1961) considered this name to be a synonym of H. stygium (Lév.) Sacc. The description in Saccardo (1895) stated that the perithecia are about 1 mm diam which appear to be unusually large for H. stygium. Ascospores, with the size range 7-8 x 2 mm, are also a bit larger than H. stygium.
