HYPOXYLON ALLANTOIDEUM COOKE

The status of the name is uncertain.

Hypoxylon allantoideum Cooke, Grevillea 8: 66 (1879)[non (Berk.) Mont. (1845), nom. illeg. Art. 53.1].

NEW ZEALAND: Waitaki, on decorticated wood, no. 250 (K[M] 68872-holotype of Hypoxylon allantoideum).

The holotype highly resembles H. novemexicanum J. H. Miller but has inamyloid or slightly dextrinoid ascal apical rings in Melzer's iodine reagent. Miller (1961) synonymized this name with H. serpens (Pers. : Fr.) J. Kickx fil. [º Nemania serpens (Pers. : Fr.) S. F. Gray].
