NUMMULARIA GLYCYRRHIZA (BERK. & M. A. CURTIS) SACC. This name does not belong to Ascovirgaria, Biscogniauxia, Creosphaeria, Daldinia, Discoxylaria, Entoleuca, Hypoxylon, Jumillera, Kretzschmaria, Kretzschmariella, Nemania, Stilbohypoxylon, Vivantia, or Whalleya.(The accepted or suggested disposition is indicated by an asterisk (*), if there is any.) II, 2: 285. 1853. º Numulariola glycyrrhiza (Berk. & M. A. Curtis) P. Martin, J. S. African Bot. 35: 291. 1969; [nom. inval., ICBN Art. 33.2]; J. S. African Bot. 42: 77. 1976. SURINAM: wood, as Sphaeria nummularia (PH, ISOTYPE of Hypoxylon glycyrrhiza); this mounted specimen is enclosed in the envelope bearing the name "Sphaeria nummularia Dec. var. striata, Syn. # 1219." We could not find ascospores in the PH material. Laessøe et al. (1989) mentioned that there are "a few almost colourless to dilute brown ascospores 12.4-16.2 x 5.2-6.2 mm" in the holotype. It indicates that Miller's interpretation of Hypoxylon glycyrrhiza does not correspond with type material. Hypoxylon glycyrrhiza sensu Miller (1961) is a Camillea Fr. taxon (Laessøe et al., 1989). |
