ANAMORPHS |
|
Anamorphs of Daldinia species resemble those of Hypoxylon species and are referable to Nodulisporium Preuss. The conidiogenous structure of a given Daldinia species can have a Sporothrix-like, Virgariella-like, Nodulisporium-like, or Periconiella-like branching pattern as defined in Ju and Rogers (1996). In most species, conidia are produced holoblastically in a sympodial sequence. The conidiogenous cells of D. petriniae are peculiar in proliferating percurrently and becoming annellated as a consequence. It is uncommon to find conidia produced holoblastically in D. petriniae. |
