Stromata and perithecia as in the typical variety.

Ostioles conical-papillate, encircled with a convex truncatum-type disc 0.3-0.4 mm diam.

Asci 160-185 mm total length x 6.5-8 mm broad, the spore-bearing parts 115-130 mm long, the stipes 35-70 mm long, with apical ring lightly bluing in Melzer's iodine reagent, discoid, 2-2.5 mm high x 2.5-3 mm broad.

Ascospores pale brown, unicellular, ellipsoid to fusoid, slightly inequilateral, with one end narrowly rounded and the other broadly rounded, 19.5-23.5 x 4.5-6.5 mm, with straight germ slit much less than spore-length and originating from one end; perispore indehiscent in 10% KOH; epispore smooth.
