NOTES

Ascospores of this fungus are strongly inequilateral. Strongly inequilateral ascospores are frequently found among taxa with appendaged ascospores but infrequently found among taxa with nonappendaged ascospores. When the centrum of this fungus is wet, the constituents stick to knives and needles and can be drawn out into a sticky mass. It is a highly distinctive taxon.
