NOTES

Miller (1961) selected Lloyd's specimen no. 10528 as the type which is accordingly accepted as the lectotype. Miller (1961) gave the ascospore size range as 17-24 (not including appendage) x 6-8 mm.

Miller (1961) erected var. macrospora for B. divergens which we consider synonymous with B. philippinensis. We do not consider B. philippinensis to be a large-spored variety of B. divergens because the former differs in having strongly inequilateral ascospores and in having a spore-length ascospore germ slit that is broad and faint. Biscogniauxia philippinensis var. microspora and B. divergens differ in the former having broader ascospores that are strongly inequilateral with a broad, faint, spore-length germ slit.
