NOTES

Biscogniauxia grenadensis differs from B. uniapiculata in having dark brown rather than black mature stromatal surface and in frequently having a pinched end on the ascospore. Examination of various specimens led us to conclude that only a single variety-var. grenadensis need be recognized. Rogers (1966, 1967c) has discussed the cytology of the ascospore and the anamorph.

Van der Gucht (1995) reported B. grenadensis var. macrospora from Papua New Guinea. Her collections [Madang Province, Ramu region, Paiya, 26.V.1992, Vyverman, W. & R., dead wood (GENT 92-1381); same collecting data, Van der Gucht, K. & De Meester, L., dead wood (GENT 92-1368)] look like B. grenadensis except for having a black mature stromatal surface and having the ascospore germ slit on the less convex side. These collections may represent a distinct taxon.
