NOTES

There are five Biscogniauxia species having individual ostioles encased by carbonaceous stromatal tissue. Among them, Biscogniauxia simplicior, B. marginata, and B. repanda have raised-discoid stromata, whereas B. cinereolilacina and B. arima have applanate stromata. Biscogniauxia simplicior differs from B. repanda in having a germ slit on one side, rather than both sides, of the ascospore; differs from B. marginata in not having a sigmoid ascospore germ slit. The collection data suggest a host specificity for Rhamnus species.
