TELEOMORPH

Stromata pulvinate to effused-pulvinate, plane or with inconspicuous perithecial mounds, 0.3-1.5 cm diam x 0.2-0.4 mm thick; surface dark cyan blue (27); blackish granules immediately beneath surface and between perithecia, with KOH-extractable pigments umber (9) or pale vinaceous (85); the tissue below the perithecial layer inconspicuous.

Perithecia spherical to obovoid, 0.1 mm diam x 0.1-0.2 mm high.

Ostioles lower than the stromatal surface.

Asci 73-104 mm total length x 5.5-7 mm broad, the spore-bearing parts 54-63 mm long, the stipes 19-40 mm long, with apical ring bluing in Melzer's iodine reagent, discoid, 0.5 mm high x 2 mm broad.

Ascospores light brown to brown, unicellular, ellipsoid, nearly equilateral, with broadly to less frequently narrowly rounded ends, 7-11.5 x 4-5 mm, with straight germ slit less than to nearly spore-length; perispore indehiscent in 10% KOH; epispore smooth or faintly striated.
