NOTES

The holotype material, originally collected from Australia, was not located at IMI and appears to be missing. Two paratypes were found. The specimen IMI 41248 [SIERRA LEONE: Kori, Njala, 3.3.1950, Deighton, F.C., corticated wood of Cinnamomum camphora] yields isabelline (65) pigments in 10% KOH solution; it is probably H. anthochroum, but has slightly smaller ascospores, 7.5-9 x 3.8-4.5 mm. IMI 49402 yields orange (7) pigments in 10% KOH solution. Since it shares most characteristics with H. rubiginosum except for its slightly smaller ascospores, it is selected as the lectotype of H. rubiginosum var. microsporum.
