Hypoxylon ticinense L. E. Petrini

TELEOMORPH | CULTURES AND ANAMORPH | SPECIMENS EXAMINED | NOTES

NOTES

Cultures and anamorph have been described by Petrini and Petrini (1985), and Petrini and Müller (1986) on MA. They assigned the anamorph to the form-genus Rhinocladiella Nannf. Its possession of denticulate conidial secession scars is noteworthy because they are rarely found among the anamorphs of Hypoxylon. Hypoxylon lividicolor is the other taxon that has denticulate conidial secession scars. Hypoxylon ticinense and H. subgilvum var. microsporum have very similar teleomorphs, but have quite different anamorphs. We consider these taxa distinct primarily on anamorphic differences and on the European distribution of H. ticinense and the Asian distribution of H. subgilvum var. microsporum.
