NOTES

Hypoxylon tortisporum is characterized by the highly variable ascospore shape as suggested by the species epithet. This property also can be found in H. symphyon from which H. tortisporum differs in having olivaceous KOH-extractable pigments. This fungus was reported from North Sulawesi, Indonesia as H. sclerophaeum sensu J. H. Miller by Rogers et al. (1987).
