Stromata pulvinate, with conspicuous perithecial mounds, ca. 5 mm diam x 1 mm thick; surface dark brick (60); dark brown granules immediately beneath surface and between perithecia, with KOH-extractable pigments not tested; the tissue below the perithecial layer inconspicuous.
Perithecia obovoid, 0.5-0.7 mm diam x 0.7-0.8 mm high.
Ostioles lower than the stromatal surface.
Asci not observed.
Ascospores blackish brown, unicellular, ellipsoid, nearly equilateral, with broadly rounded ends, 40-51 x 20-27 mm, with straight germ slit less than to slightly less than spore-length; perispore indehiscent in 10% KOH; epispore smooth.
