NOTES

Kretzschmaria curvirima is the only known Kretzschmaria species with a sigmoid to spiral ascospore germ slit. Lloyd (1921) commented on K. spinifera that "The spores are unusually large, 16 x 48." It is very likely that Lloyd's concept of K. spinifera was based on material of K. curvirima. Also see NOTES on K. micropus.
