NOTES

Miller (1933) designated specimen no. 7090 in GAM as the type for this fungus. In "explanation of plates", he elaborated that the type was collected by L. E. Wehmeyer in Idaho on Aug. 21, 1922. Miller (1961) later cited a specimen collected by L. E. Wehmeyer and numbered 4241 in his herbarium as the type. In any case, we could not find at GAM collections of this fungus from Idaho made by Wehmeyer but by C. H. Kauffman. At BPI we, however, located two autographed specimens of Miller bearing the number 4241. He labeled one as type and the other as "cotype"; these are considered as the holotype and isotype, respectively. Also see the notes on N. aenea var. aenea.
