NOTES

Collections of N. bipapillata have been made from both dicots and monocots. The name Hypoxylon bipapillatum had been applied to the fungus that is now called N. diffusa by Pouzar (1985b) and Petrini & Rogers (1986). See also the notes on this fungus in Ju & Rogers (1999). The type material of H. subannulatum was not located; from the original diagnosis, it is likely that this name is a synonym of N. bipapillata.
