TELEOMORPH

Stromata effused-pulvinate, superficial, fragmentary, with the largest piece 8 mm diam x 0.8-1 mm thick; surface dull black, with conspicuous perithecial mounds, smooth; carbonaceous tissue immediately beneath surface, forming a thin layer and extending downwards to form a sheet below perithecia; scanty whitish, soft tissue between upper parts of perithecia; lower parts of perithecia directly embedded in host substrate.

Perithecia spherical, 0.7-0.8 mm diam.

Ostioles higher than the stromatal surface, with openings papillate, encircled with a sunken disc 0.2-0.3 mm diam.

Asci not found.

Ascospores blackish brown, unicellular, ellipsoidal-inequilateral, with narrowly rounded ends frequently pinched, (15-)16-19 x 7-8 µm, with straight, conspicuous germ slit spore-length on the ventral side.
