Biscogniauxia reticulospora Y.-M. Ju & J. D. Rogers, Mycotaxon 66: 52. 1998.

Stromata applanate, 5 cm long x 2.5 cm broad x 1.5 mm thick; outer dehiscing layer dark brown, thin; mature surface black; carbonaceous immediately beneath surface and between perithecia; tissue beneath perithecia inconspicuous.

Perithecia tubular, 0.3 mm diam x 1-1.3 mm high.

Ostioles higher than stromatal surface, with openings papillate or coarsely papillate.

Asci fragmentary, with apical ring bluing in Melzer's iodine reagent, discoid, 5 mm high x 7 mm broad.

Ascospores dark brown, unicellular, ellipsoid-inequilateral, with narrowly rounded ends, ornamented with shallow reticulations, 27-34 x 14-15.5 mm, with straight germ slit spore-length on more convex side.
