NOTES
Stromata of D. sacchari, like those of D. graminis, are fairly small. Both of them grow on monocots and have an indehiscent ascospore perispore. They differ from each other mainly in the ascospore dimensions and in the length of germ slit.
Dargan and Thind (1984) recognized two subgenera for Daldinia, Eudaldinia and Entodaldinia, mainly on the basis of stromatal anatomy. They selected D. sacchari as the type of subgenus Entodaldinia.
