Nemania albocincta (Ellis & Everh.) Pouzar, Česká Mykol. 39: 23 (1985).

º Hypoxylon albocinctum Ellis & Everh., Proc. Acad. Nat. Sci. Philadelphia 42: 229 (1890).

Stromata effused-pulvinate, superficial, 3-13 mm long, 2-10 mm broad, ca. 0.6 mm thick; surface black, with inconspicuous perithecial mounds, smooth; carbonaceous immediately beneath surface and between perithecia; tissue beneath the perithecial layer inconspicuous.

Perithecia spherical, 0.3-0.5 mm diam.

Ostioles slightly higher than the stromatal surface, with openings slightly papillate.

Asci 85-115 µm total length x 5.5-6 µm broad, the spore-bearing part 60-70 µm, the stipe 25-50 µm long, with apical ring bluing in Melzer's iodine reagent, inverted hat-shaped, 2 µm high x 2.5 µm broad.

Ascospores brown to dark brown, unicellular, ellipsoidal, slightly inequilateral to nearly equilateral, with narrowly rounded ends, 8-10 x 4-5 µm, with straight, conspicuous germ slit spore-length.
