NOTES

Hypoxylon hydnicolum was considered to be a possible synonym of H. albocinctum [º N. albocincta] by Miller (1961) and of N. serpens by Pouzar (1985b) and Petrini & Rogers (1986)[as Hypoxylon]. Var. hydnicola differs from var. serpens and var. colliculosa primarily in having ascospores with narrow to acute ends and in being frequently fungicolous.
