TELEOMORPH
Hypoxylon discophorum Penz. & Sacc., Malpighia 11: 492. 1897.

Stromata fragmentary, probably pulvinate, with inconspicuous perithecial mounds, 4.5 mm thick; surface blackish; blackish granules immediately beneath surface, with KOH-extractable pigments greenish olivaceous (90); the tissue below the perithecial layer massive, dark brown.
Perithecia spherical, 1-1.3 mm diam.
Ostioles papillate, encircled with a slightly concave bovei?-type disc 1-1.3 mm diam.
Asci not observed.
Ascospores brown, unicellular, ellipsoid-inequilateral, with narrowly to broadly rounded ends, 9.5-11 x 4.5-5.5 mm, with straight germ slit spore-length; perispore dehiscent in 10% KOH, smooth; epispore smooth.
