Stromata pulvinate to effused-pulvinate, with inconspicuous perithecial mounds, 0.5-8 cm long x 0.5-1.2 cm broad x 0.6-1.3 mm thick; surface sepia (63), dark brick (60), or fuscous (103); blackish granules immediately beneath surface and between perithecia, with KOH-extractable pigments greenish olivaceous (90), dull green (70), or dark green (21); the tissue below the perithecial layer inconspicuous.

Perithecia obovoid to tubular, 0.3-0.6 mm diam x 0.5-1 mm high.

Ostioles conical-papillate, encircled with a convex truncatum-type disc 0.2-0.3 mm diam.

Asci 125-160 mm total length x 4-5.5 mm broad, the spore-bearing parts 70-90 mm long, the stipes 50-80 mm long, with apical ring bluing in Melzer's iodine reagent, discoid, 0.5 mm high x 1.5-2 mm broad.

Ascospores pale brown, unicellular, ellipsoid to fusoid, slightly inequilateral, with narrowly rounded ends, 7.5-13 x 3-4 mm, with straight germ slit much less than spore-length and originating from one end; perispore indehiscent in 10% KOH; epispore smooth.
