NOTES

Hypoxylon pseudostipitatum was a herbarium name given to this fungus by Ellis and Macbride. Miller (1961) listed it as a synonym of H. truncatum. We recognize it as a species, although the specimens are in poor condition. Its discoid to peltate stromata have a constricted base which imitates a stipe. The connective apparently led Ellis and Macbride to attach the species epithet to this fungus.
