Stromata effused-pulvinate, plane or with inconspicuous perithecial mounds, 0.7-6 cm long x 0.4-2 cm broad x 0.8-1.6 mm thick; surface blackish; blackish granules immediately beneath surface and probably between perithecia, with KOH-extractable pigments vinaceous purple (101) or vinaceous gray (116); the tissue below the perithecial layer black, up to 0.5 mm thick.

Perithecia obovoid to tubular, 0.2-0.4 mm diam x 0.4-1 mm high.

Ostioles conical-papillate, encircled with a convex truncatum-type disc 0.2-0.3 mm diam.

Asci not observed.

Ascospores pale brown, unicellular, ellipsoid to fusoid, slightly inequilateral to inequilateral, with narrowly rounded ends, 9-14 (-17) x 3.5-4.5 mm, with straight germ slit much less than spore-length and originating from one end; perispore indehiscent in 10% KOH; epispore smooth.
