Biscogniauxia africana Y.-M. Ju & J. D. Rogers

NOTES

The gross morphology is in general similar to that of B. repanda. Instead of having a reduced amount of carbonaceous stromatal tissue encasing individual ostioles, Biscogniauxia africana has the stromatal interior almost entirely occupied by carbonaceous tissue. Moreover, the ascospores of B. africana do not have a bilateral germ slit. Biscogniauxia pruni has a similar ascospore morphology, but differs in having punctate ostiolar openings, in having dark brown, woody stromatal tissue inside, and in its specificity for Prunus.
