Biscogniauxia baileyi (Berk. & Broome ex Cooke) Kuntze
TELEOMORPH | CULTURES AND ANAMORPH | SPECIMENS EXAMINED | NOTES
NOTES
This species is known only from Australia. The gross morphology is highly similar to
that of B. marginata from which it differs
in having a straight rather than sigmoid germ slit. Biscogniauxia
dennisii is a closely related species, but it differs in having larger
perithecia and in having larger ascospores. We were unable to determine the composition
and configuration of the stromatal tissue that is located immediately beneath the surface
and between perithecia because the specimens that we have examined are overmature and
depauperate. Biscogniauxia baileyi might represent the
Southern Hemisphere equivalent of B. marginata. The latter is
fairly specific for rosaceous hosts; host relationships of the former are unknown.
