Biscogniauxia communapertura Y.-M. Ju & J. D. Rogers, Mycotaxon 66: 31. 1998.

Stromata applanate, 0.4-1.5 cm long x 0.2-0.4 cm broad x 0.8 mm thick; outer dehiscing layer dark brown, thin; mature surface black; carbonaceous immediately beneath surface and between perithecia; tissue beneath perithecia inconspicuous.

Perithecia obovoid to tubular, 0.1-0.2 mm diam x 0.3-0.5 mm high, with numerous individuals arranged in rosettes and discharging through a single ostiolar canal.

Ostioles widely spaced, higher than stromatal surface, with openings coarsely papillate.

Asci not observed.

Ascospores light brown to brown, unicellular, ellipsoid, nearly equilateral, with broadly to narrowly rounded ends, smooth, 8-11.5 x 4.5-6 mm, with straight germ slit much less than spore-length.
