CULTURES AND ANAMORPH

Colonies on 2% Difco Oatmeal Agar at ca. 20°C and under 12 h fluorescent light reaching the edge of 9 cm Petri dish in 1.5 wk, whitish, felty, azonate, with diffuse margins, becoming zonate, with greenish olivaceous (90) and olivaceous (48) alternating zones; reverse dull green (70).

Sporulating regions scattered over entire surface of colony but with more abundant sporulation at edge of colony, buff (45) to honey (64).

Conidiogenous structure approaching Virgariella-like branching pattern as defined in Ju and Rogers (1996).

Conidiophores mononematous, dichotomously branched, sometimes with additional branches arising from the first level of conidiogenous regions, hyaline to yellowish, finely roughened, 2.5-3 mm diam, with two, less frequently three, conidiogenous cells arising from each terminus.

Conidiogenous cells cylindrical, hyaline, finely roughened, 10-20 x 2-3.5 mm. Conidia produced holoblastically in sympodial sequence.

Conidia hyaline, smooth to finely roughened, ellipsoid, with flattened base, 7-9.5 x 4-5 mm.
