NOTES
Hypoxylon flavoargillaceum was considered by Miller (1961) to have characteristics similar to those of H. notatum. These two taxa differ in stromatal surface colors and in the latter having an ascal apical ring highly reduced or even lacking. Also compare with H. shearii.
